An engaging and funny series to read with children that conveys a great message. Scaredy Squirrel is always on the lookout for danger and has some ideas about what dangers he might face and how to deal with them that sound pretty silly. Children will love the character and the creative illustrations.
Scaredy Squirrel
Scaredy Squirrel uses routines and planning to make sure he always stays safe but one day, one of his fears has to be faced and he realizes that he was better equipped than he thought. He didn’t actually need any of his emergency plans and realizes that he enjoys using his new-found talents. He faces the unknown by setting aside time each day to do something out of his comfort zone.
Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend
When Scaredy Squirrel decides that it’s time to make a friend, he has the perfect friend in mind; quiet, clean and safe. When he goes to meet the friend he thinks he wants, another friend finds him instead. This friend is dirty, smelly and loud but also fun. Scaredy squirrel realizes that meeting new people is not as dangerous as he thought and that judging others by their appearances may mean he misses out on a great friendship.
I read these books often with my five year old son. Fun for parents and kids alike!
