“Why Johnny Doesn’t Flap” is an interesting look at the perplexing ways that we are all different. Throughout the book we see Johnny do all sorts of things such as: look you in the eyes, play games out of order, and choose to smile instead of flap his hands. This story is told from the point of view of a friend with Autism who is describing the things Johnny does that confuse him, but that he accepts all the same. “Why Johnny Doesn’t Flap” is a great reminder that every individual has distinct qualities and quirks which set us apart and as the mom in this book says, “different isn’t always wrong”!
