Marco and I Want To Play Ball: A True Story Promoting Inclusion and Self-Determination

“Marco and I” is a story of two cousins, Marco and Isiah. Isiah has Spina Bifida and wears braces on his legs. This is a wonderful story to share with school age children. The message is simple; all children want to play. The book uses photography to capture Isiah and Marco playing baseball with their Grandpa. Following the story, there are several pages for educators to extend the story and facilitate meaningful conversations with children on the topics of self-determination, problem solving, choice making, self-regulation and environmental support. I recommend this book and encourage educators to use it during their group time.
