Summer Activities for Families in Ottawa

Ottawa offers many free or almost free activities for families to participate in during the summer months of 2015. Listed, are only a few highlights of the many activities that can be found.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Visit the horses and stables at the RCMP Musical Ride Centre. FREE
Canadian Museum of Nature Visit  the dinosaurs and more at the Canadian Museum of Nature for free on Thursday evenings from 5 pm to 8 pm. FREE

Canadian Children’s Museum Visit the Canadian Children’s Museum (inside the Canadian Museum of History) for free on Thursday evenings from 4 pm to 8pm. FREE (Thursday 4 pm to 8pm)
On the City’s paths Bike, walk or blade along the City’s paths. FREE
A day at the beach  Swim, build sand castles and play at the beach. FREE
A day at the park Some City of Ottawa Parks have splash pads, adapted swings, picnic areas and plenty of areas to explore. FREE
Doors Open Ottawa Visit Ottawa’s many buildings to explore culture, history, and architecture. FREE (June 6 and 7th 2015 only)
Heritage Museums Discover local history and culture at Ottawa’s Heritage Museums. See website
Summer Concert Series at the Governor General’s Outdoor concerts on the lawn of the Governor General’s residence. FREE
